Here at Mountain Whispers we know there are plenty of restaurants and cafes in the Blue Mountains region to dine at. We’ve got quite a few favourites ourselves, although our guests tell us they love having our private chef come in and cook a lovely three course meal while staying with us.
There are times you just want to spoil yourself and if you’re looking to dine out while staying with us at Mountain Whispers, why not do it indulgently with a degustation. There are a small number of restaurants who offer a regular degustation menu, while there are a number of others who offer the option for Christmas or New Year’s dinner. We’ve outlined a few options here in the mountains, but remember to book early – these degustation menus are often quite popular.
nineteen23
Located in Wentworth Falls nineteen23 has a focus on using fresh and local produce, with some of their ingredients coming from their own kitchen garden. With a spacious but cosy 30 seat dining room, nineteen23 is part of the 1923 built Silvermere Guest House. The degustation menu at nineteen23 is available at every sitting and with a seasonally changing menu, you’ll need to come back a couple of times to experience all the options.
Previous degustation menus have included options such as grilled kale with broad beans, quinoa, peas and burnt orange; raw kingfish with romesco, raddicio leaves, pear and lemon olive oil; and duck pie with quince, creamed silver beet, potato puree, Japanese turnips and duck sauce.
At just 10 minutes from our Mountain Whispers properties, it’s well worth booking into nineteen23 and indulging in their seasonal degustation menu.
