As we say goodbye to another wonderful winter tonight, the Blue Mountains is starting to get ready for a number of events and festivities planned throughout the region. As the weather starts to heat up on the coast and in the city, this is a perfect time to plan your spring escape. Mountain Whispers offers luxury accommodation in the heart of Katoomba and Leura.
One of the biggest events to hit the Mountains each year is the Leura Gardens Festival.
This year the garden festival is running from the 1st through to the 9th of October, and with everything in bloom, it’s a great festival to attend. There are 13 different gardens open for the festival, and you can buy an all-gardens entry pass for as little as $25 – trust us, that’s great value (the pass will also get you access to this year’s Music in the Gardens performances each afternoon).
An absolute must see is the Blue Vista garden; as one of the original show gardens, Blue Vista is amazing. While the weeping linden tree at the front will catch your eye, it’s the views of Mount Solitary and the Three Sisters out the back that will really take your breath away.
We really can’t recommend any one garden over another – they are all fantastic and well worth visiting.
If you don’t make it to the Leura Gardens Festival this year, start planning for next year’s festival running from the 30th September to the 8th October. You can even book your Mountain Whispers luxury accommodation now.
There are also a number of art exhibitions happening in the Blue Mountains. The Explore photography exhibition showcases work of Sydney and surrounds by emerging young photographers under 18 and runs for the month of September at the Blue Mountains Heritage Centre. Greg Cliffe’s Groupthink exhibition starts tomorrow and runs through to the 19th September at Lost Bear Gallery in Katoomba.
You can also see more art on a Blue Mountains City Art Gallery guided tour, on the Blue Mountains Art Trail, and at the Blue Mountains Artfest.
There are also a number of music related events happening over the next few month. Cello & Chocolate runs at The Gingerbread House in Katoomba on the 19th September and the 19th November. You will need to book and can do so directly at The Gingerbread House.
The Blue Mountains Opera Festival is running three events over the October long weekend at the Hydro Majestic – only 10 minutes from our Mountain Whispers properties. You can book your ticket to one or all three events on the Hydro Majestic website.
The Moon Festival is running for the second year on the 25th September at the Hydro Majestic Hotel and celebrates traditional Asian culture. Soak up the atmosphere with the Dragon dance and drum beats, Chinese lanterns and a range of delicious foods.
One of the great things about the Blue Mountains is getting out and discovering the local area. The Great Blue Mountains Heritage Trail Open Day is on the 1st of October and gives you the opportunity to discover the local historical sites.
There’s so much happening in the Blue Mountains over spring and Mountain Whispers is right in the middle of it all. Base your spring escape at our luxury accommodation, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see it all.
