There’s no denying that February is a romantic month – there’s the annual visit from St Valentine, and those warmer days are starting to slip away into cooler nights, which means more snuggling up on the couch with your loved one.
If you’ve been preparing to pop the question to your better half this year, we’ve rounded up some of the best places to propose in the Blue Mountains, whatever time of the year you decide.
Lincoln’s Rock – Wentworth Falls
If you want views for days, Lincoln’s Rock is the place to be. It is one of the most popular lookouts, and certainly a popular spot to pop the question in the Blue Mountains. To the south-west is Mt Solitary, with Narrow Neck to the right of the cliffs, topping off the views over the Jamison Valley.
Prior to 2013, Lincoln’s Rock was known as Honeymoon Rock and “Wedding Rock” as it was, and still is, a popular place for newlyweds to have wedding photos.
This lookout is stunning for a sunrise proposal and will certainly make for a memorable proposal.

Kanangra Walls – Kanangra Boyd National Park
Kanangra-Boyd National Park is another fantastic national park here in the mountains, and the unfenced lookout over the Kanangra Walls is a relatively easy 10 minute walk from the carpark. At the top of the steps you can enjoy the views of Mount Cloudmaker, often circled by mist, but we recommend taking the few short steps down to the lookout platform for an amazing view.
Once you’ve proposed, take some time and keep your eyes on the sky – you may just happen to see some wedge-tail eagles flying by. And if you prefer to propose in the spring, keep your eyes on the undergrowth for the antechinus, a small, rodent-like marsupial.

Breenhold Gardens
If you have dreams of proposing surrounded by autumn or spring flowers, then Breenhold Gardens should be your stop. This heritage listed garden estate is one of the most extensive, privately owned garden properties in Australia, and it certainly a great place to propose.
Cypress meadow is awash in a golden-yellow colour in spring, while Socrates Garden is a favourite of those getting married and it isn’t hard to see why with its expanse of shaded lawn. One of our absolute favourite places at Breenhold is the Celestium and it has to be one of the most photographed from above. The Celestium is an enclosed and intimate garden with a fountain and star pool at the centre.

Wentworth Falls
There’s no doubt that the Blue Mountains are full of amazing waterfalls, and Wentworth Falls is no different. The Wentworth Falls lookout gives you a spectacular view of the valley and the top of the falls, while the short (but steep) walk down the stairs to Fletcher’s Lookout, gives you another viewing point of the falls.
This is certainly a popular walk, so don’t expect to have the lower levels of the falls to yourself, but it is one of the most scenic falls, and will make for an excellent background for a memorable moment in your life.

Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens
The Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens is one of our favourite spots for a picnic and we can see why it is a popular spot for a proposal or a wedding. The Residence Garden is awash with different colours throughout each season, with the Japanese Maples turning everything gold and red in autumn, the camellias exploding in colour in winter and the cherry blossoms turning the area pink in spring.
The Cascades and Beach is a popular wedding and proposal spot, with ponds and pools flowing into water dependent gardens, and a waterlily collection at the end. The sound of the water, and the small beach in the mountains makes this a lovely spot to stop and propose.

Katoomba Cascades
Are you after a special spot to propose? Try Katoomba Cascades after dark. The Cascades are part of the Katoomba Falls Reserve Night Lit Walk, with the lights flickering on at dusk. Take some time to sit on the nearby benches, watch the night sky and listen to the cascades.
You can either take a short walk to the Cascades, or take in an extended walk including Katoomba Falls, Witches Leap Falls lookout and Solitary Lookout.
This is a magical walk and a unique opportunity for a special proposal.

Everglades House and Gardens
Everglades House and Gardens is another heritage garden in the Blue Mountains, and is an absolute must for the art deco lovers. It is an inter-war period garden that provides some amazing views of the region.
Everglades provides formal European-style terraces, winding paths, views to Mount Solitary and the Jamison Valley, and the opportunity to take in the Reflection Pool, Grotto Pool, and many gardens. There are plenty of spots in the Gardens to propose to your loved one.
