History & Heritage

The Blue Mountains is steeped in history and heritage. The area’s first building was a military post at Springwood built between 1816-1817; and during the Edwardian and Art Deco eras, the Blue Mountains flourished as a location for rest and relaxation.

When you book your Blue Mountains retreat with us, talk to Lorraine about taking a private Vintage Tour.  These are ideal for couples or group bookings – so don your feather boa and fedora and be chauffeured around in a 1929 Cadillac. The tour includes historical commentary and places off the beaten track.

If you’d prefer to drive yourself, follow the Greater Blue Mountains Heritage Trail and visit Everglades Historic House and Gardens, Woodford Academy, Lone Pine Avenue or Kurrajong Village.

Dining

A Blue Mountains retreat isn’t complete without dining at the region’s restaurants. If you don’t feel like leaving your Mountain Whispers – “MW” Collection property, you can book our private chef to cook your favourite meal right at your accommodation.

There are a number of dining places to check out for a meal, including Leura Garage, Darley’s, Solitary, Silks and The Wintergarden at the Hydro Majestic. And stop in for a high tea at The Carrington, Lilianfels or Bygone Beauty’s.
